Archive: Williamsburg Afterhours Video Presentations

Celebrating Brooklyn Armory Night,  March 10th, from 7-10pm, selected artists will be presenting video works at various locations throughout WIlliamsburg.  Street level video projections will illuminate the night, with site-specific works, video installations and projection art.  Along the route of participating galleries for this year’s WIlliamsburg Afterhours event, local bars and restaurants will be transformed with artist’s video presentations immersing the neighborhood in a festival of the arts.

The evening will continue at indieScreen for the afterparty event with a special screening of a program of video artist’s works in their theatre. Guests can meet up at indieScreen’s fabulous lounge for cocktails and a presentation of videos that were presented at various locations throughout the evening.

Bahar Behbahani: “Suspended”
 Causey Contemporary will showcasing Bahar Behbahani’s “Suspended”  video projected on and through the gallery’s front windows.  The Abstract film, Suspended is about a woman’s life; the ideals, the norms, the things that exist and the fantasies.  The woman in the film takes the audience to her backyard and together they observe her life in ambiguity.  She questions love, humanity, identity, freedom and femininity when everything seems normal.   The concept and direction of the video are both by Ms. Behbahani. It is produced by Pooya Aryanpour with camera work by Kaveh Shah M. L and sound design by Negar Behbahani.

Chris Jordan: “Slanted Walk”
This interactive projection installation examines public space through the use of light and movement. The installation combines live recordings of passerbys with color and texture through the use of projection and camera. By highlighting the individual in the urban landscape, Slanted Walk attempts to reexamine the effects of light and interactivity within the city.

Christine Sciulli: “Roebling Tango”
In this site specific projection installation Sciulli will choreograph roving planes of light into organized cacophony within the urban triangle park, Ascenzi Square.  Ascenzi Square is located between Metropolitan, Roebling and N.4th Streets. Electrical power and logistical support provided by Volmar Construction, Inc.
